In conjunction with the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark expedition, Joe participated by portraying French trader and trapper Pierre Cruzette who was a fiddler in the original Corps of Discovery. Here are samples of Joe's presentation, in costume, to a group of young Wayne County, W.Va., students in 2004.
In early 2004, the West Virginia Lottery Commission asked Joe to join a troupe of performers to play on this lively commercial filmed at the Stonewall Jackson Lodge. It received a lot of airplay throughout the winter and spring.
Joe was the subject of a four-minute feature on Outlook, the news program of West Virginia Public Broadcasting, on Sept. 26, 2002. The program, produced by Charles Berkeley, feature shots from "Music from the Mountains," from inside Joe's Fret 'n Fiddle music store in St. Albans, and jamming with The 1937 Flood at the late, great St. Zita's restaurant in downtown Huntington.
While helping out with the annual "Third House" show for the state legislature in 2002, Joe and his band, The 1937 Flood, got Gov. Bob Wise on stage to help out with some fancy footwork!

Joe and The Flood packed in at the Renaissance Arts Center (the old Huntington High School) one cold January Friday night in 2002 for a party to celebrate the release of the guys' first CD.
